While November is the month we grow moustaches, October is a time where we have a think about our health. It’s both Go Sober This October and Stoptober, which means booze and fags are off the cards.
But that doesn’t mean you need to give up exactly. There are a host of alcohol free beers out there.
The industry has changed dramatically in recent years, as more people give up booze, either for health reasons or as a result of addiction, with more people than ever before checking into an alcohol or drug addiction rehab treatment. As a result, the demand for non-alcholic options has increased and more and more breweries are looking at options.
As we’re heading into Go Sober This October, and more people will joining the sober club, here are five non-alcoholic beers you should give a go…

Northern Monk Holy Hop Water
We’re actually going to start with something slightly different. Produced by Northern Monk, a popular brewery in Leeds, Holy Hop Water tastes like beer, is 0%, but looks like water.
It’s actually infused sparkling hop water, which comes in a range of different flavours. It’s a brilliant alternative and is undoubtedly going to be a gamechanger in the next few years, with a number of other breweries also producing similar products.
Lucky Saint
Talking of gamechangers, Lucky Saint has certainly been one. The brand specialise in non-alcoholic beer and you’ll find it in almost every good pub these days. It’s transformed the 0% lager market, bringing something tasty and well crafted to the table, rather than an afterthought alternative.
What’s more, these days you may even find it on draft, with a number of pubs across the UK offering this. All the joys of having a pint, without the toxins and hangover!
Cloudwater Fresh AF IPA
Cloudwater have been among the finest brewers in the UK for a number of years now. Well known for their quality, they’ve refined that even further with their Fresh alcohol free IPA. It’s smooth, full of flavour, hoppy and tastes just like the real thing.
You won’t find it everywhere, but find a good craft beer bar and it might just be your lucky day.
Mash Gang National Anthem
Mash Gang operate in much the same way as some of the best breweries in the UK. They produce some really interesting beers, from IPAs to sours, stouts and lagers, except they are all alcohol free.
National Anthem is a stout offering of theirs, a cherry cola stout to be precise, and it’s just one example of how the brewery is shaking up the AF market. We love them, and you can get some pretty good mixed cases on their website.
Erdinger Alkoholfrei
Going a little more mainstream now, Erdinger is probably the bigger brewery out there pulling together an excellent non-alcoholic option. Their alcohol free wheat beer really is superb and has been a market leader for some time.
What’s more, it’s widely available, from your local supermarket to your local ‘Spoons. So you really can’t go wrong here.
